AUTHOR BIO

Ted Merwin, Ph.D. teaches religion and Judaic studies at Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA, where he directs the Milton B. Asbell Center for Jewish Life. A native New Yorker and well-known expert on Jewish culture, he moonlights as the theater critic for the New York Jewish Week, the largest-circulation Jewish newspaper in the United States, where he has published close to 300 articles to date.

In addition, Ted's articles have appeared in The New York Times, Washington Post, Moment Magazine, Hadassah Magazine, and many other publications.

Ted specializes in profiling celebrities; he has interviewed Tony Kushner, Thomas Keneally, F. Murray Abraham, Harvey Fierstein, Jackie Mason, Tovah Feldshuh and many others.

In Their Own Image was published in 2006 by Rutgers University Press. Ted is currently writing a second book on the history of the New York Jewish deli. He lives in Harrisburg, PA with his wife and two daughters.
